Cile, Pinera non lascia ma annuncia la fine dello stato di emergenza e un rimpasto di governo. Revocato il coprifuoco a Santiago

Dopo la marcia di protesta a cui ha partecipato oltre 1 milione di persone che ne chiedevano le dimissioni, il presidente conservatore cileno Sebastian Pinera ha detto di aver “ascoltato il messaggio dell’immensa maggioranza dei cileni che chiede un Cile più giusto, più solidale”. E ha risposto alle manifestazioni iniziate una settimana fa contro il caro biglietti della metropolitana annunciando la fine già domenica dello stato d’emergenza dichiarato il 19 ottobre “se le circostanze lo permetteranno”, la revoca del coprifuoco a Santiago e un ampio rimpasto di governo. In più ha fatto sapere di aver proposto al Congresso “una profonda agenda sociale che raccoglie molte delle lamentele più sentite dai nostri compatrioti, in modo da avanzare con urgenza e volontà verso un miglioramento delle pensioni, delle entrate dei lavoratori, verso la stabilizzazione del prezzo di servizi di base come l’elettricità, e presto vogliamo anche fare progressi sui prezzi dell’acqua e del Tag (il sistema di pedaggio autostradale, ndr)”.

“La marcia di ieri è stata esemplare“, ha detto Pinera parlando nella mattinata locale al palazzo presidenziale della Moneda. “Un milione o più di persone che hanno manifestato pacificamente, che hanno espresso il proprio punto di vista e hanno inviato il loro messaggio con forza ed eloquenza però senza violenza. È un grande risultato della società cilena. Quello che è avvenuto ieri mi ha riempito di gioia. Tutti siamo cambiati e abbiamo un nuovo atteggiamento”. Nessun riferimento al fatto che i dimostranti oltre a chiedere di porre fine alle diseguaglianze socio-economiche, ma anche le dimissioni di Pinera.
Mentre Pinera parlava, l’esercito ha revocato il coprifuoco prima a Valparaiso, poi a Concepcion e infine nella capitale. Intanto il ministero dell’Interno ha segnalato “una diminuzione degli eventi gravi” collegati alla protesta, scesi sabato mattina da 61 a 33, tra cui due incendi di supermercati. Nel suo discorso il presidente ha promesso di diffondere il numero definitivo delle vittime dei disordini quando la situazione sarà tornata alla normalità. Al momento si parla di 18 morti nelle proteste partite dalle manifestazioni contro il caro biglietti. Ci sono state denunce di gravi abusi da parte delle forze dell’ordine, che avrebbero ucciso cinque persone.
