US President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair, during a press conference held 08 April 2003, at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. Bush and Blair today pledged to hand over power in Iraq to the Iraqi people as “swiftly as possible”. During the meeting they both agreed there would be a “vital role” for the United Nations in the post-war reconstruction of Iraq and emphasised the need to move as quickly as possible to a new interim Iraqi administration, paving the way to a fully representative government of the country.
